First draft
I would love to continue onto higher education to strengthen and develop my skills as I aspire to be an actor and Musical Theatre performer . I have been interested in performing arts from a young age especially in singing. I am now currently at an f sharp. I entered a local talent show in Brent t the age of 7 and appeared in the local newspaper. This introduced me into performing as it was my first time performing in front of an audience. I learnt that the more that I showcase my talent the more I can be noticed . I love performing and being part of performances whether in class ,in front of my peers ,or to a huge audience excites me because I gain the opportunity to perform and collect constructive feedback and feedback on ways to better myself in order to strengthen my skills , as it is something I want to be doing in the future. I am willing and ready to face the challenges of arts training to achieve my personal goals. I enjoy pushing myself beyond my comfort zone to explore character, emotion and narrative in a role. My ultimate ambition is to become a performer on Broadway and on camera and in order to achieve this goal I will need to do the correct training.
Last year I completed a level 3 BTEC Singing Performance Certificate where I was able to express my self through singing and developed my skills which I found highly enjoyable. This enabled me to become more confident, performing in front of different audiences and as each new opportunity arose I became more excited and determined to perform to my highest ability.I am a responsible , independent learner and enthusiastic team leader and have good self management . I can evaluate my strengths and weakness in depth in order to further develop my skills and am hard-working and love to try new things. For example I have choreographed my own movement which I included in my final performance assessment of year 1. I devised my own scene using the influence of the Musical Cats . As for dance , before completing the year 1 Musical Theatre course, I had never done ballet or Jazz before but as the year progressed I began to learn the basic positions of arms and legs and jazz technique which I found rather difficult at the beginning . Moving on to higher education I am looking forward to working more in that area to improve my skills .I also sang Memory sung by Elaine Paige , in order to create such a piece a to use my technical skills in dance, singing and drama to portray my character, in which I played the character of Grizabella the Glamour Cat ,and the message behind the song .I also use my initiative and can adapt to changes and deal with problems effectively , for example if a partner is absent I use my rehearsal time wisely to find a linked area to work on and that is beneficial so when my partner returns I can teach them what I have created or worked on and move on from there.
In 2009 I attended an Performing arts weekend Programme called Dream Arts which initially helped me to develop and expand my skills in singing , dancing and acting. Through weekly training and rehearsals we would work towards a end of term musical at either The Playhouse or Cockpit Theaters. The musical productions I participated in included Chicago, Blood Brothers, Calamity Jane and Bugsy Malone , where I played the role of Tallulah . Through this I also gained Backstage knowledge , working with preparing costume , hair and make up. These experiences gave me a greater understanding of how it would be to work on stage every night in a professional environment. Attending this Performing Arts Programme helped me explore my talents and figure out what career path I wanted to go into .
In the past I worked in a restaurant , and now work at a Vue Entertainment cinema. Working in these environments has helped develop my skills In time management and strengthened my communication skills as I work with customers on a daily basis. I took part in work experience at the Bloomsbury Festival ,performing a new choral work by Michael Henry alongside younger primary school children and members of the local community . I gained experience in performing to an audience outdoors and working with different choirs become one. I really enjoyed this as we were able to showcase our skills and the song “Sing Out “ used our college location and the Bloomsbury environment influence.
